Get your MOTOR cranking

If you grow-up participating in sports or have competitive children in all facets of athletics, you will eventually encounter the term "motor."  Motor is an expression that coaches use to describe someone's sense-of-urgency or spirit while playing a sport.  You hear  coaches say, "that player's motor is non-stop" or "you just can't teach motor.."  When I think of motor in sports personalities - I think of how Ray Lewis plays middle linebacker.  How Michael Jordon finished a game or Pete Rose ran the bases.  How Lawrence Taylor or Green Bay's Matthews blows past a helpless lineman on their way to destroying a quarterback.  Motor.  Perhaps you can't teach it, or embed it in all your players, but you can certainly ask for that motor & spirit from all your players and insist they bring their motor to the party.  One very powerful benefit or end result of having a great motor is consistency.  Ray Lewis is consistently GREAT.  Why?  His motor.  Motor lends itself to great consistency.  Now if we were to apply this personality trait of motor to your marketing - what would motor look like?  Perhaps great motor means your messages and brand equity have a great spirit and zest for life ALL THE TIME (consistency).  When you are creating the Marketing Mix of WHO/WHAT/HOW and laying-out your marketing program - don't forget to have the motor on.  Bringing a great 'motor' to your marketing plan is an ALWAYS ON approach to all your marketing efforts.  A great motor translates into multiple touchpoints and NEVER being outworked.  Motor.  A great spirit, work ethic and zest for life.  The switch is ALWAYS on and the motor is cranking!
