Marketing Plans and Music!
Both are uphill climbs. Music AND Marketing plans are pursuits. Trouble is - today our competitive culture is so obsessed with mistakes. We are NOT allowed to make any mistakes..whether it be a presentation to our DIRECTOR or spelling test or Summer Festival. We plan so rigorously, outworking everyone to generate a mistake free environment. Right? God forbid. However, mistakes and miscues allow composers and all of us to reroute and make the music and marketing plan and gameplan BETTER. How in the hell did Mozart produce heavenly symphonies without plowing through his emotions and stretching his talents? Nope. The creator creates UPHILL and this climb is gonna generate a handful of miscues. Try to live life without a mistake? Stretching beyond our capabilities is precisely what our soul strives for. It's what musicians crave I suspect (not one). I know as an athlete and jock - we all have moments in which we feel like pushing ourselves beyond what we THOUGHT we were capable of. That's the climb. The journey. So go ahead and make that mistake - it's OK. Especially if you embrace & reroute the journey to a higher order. Just don't do it when you're presenting to your DIRECTOR! :)
